KM Saranya is a steel hulled, 17 metre offshore, custom built surf charter vessel with twin engines, luxury open plan accommodation, and is licensed to sleep 10 guests in air conditioned comfort but will run with just 6 pax. The recently modified hull and overhaul of engines enables her a good average cruising speed of 12 -14 knots. High-speed 5.5metre tender with 85hp enables fast delivery to the line up and quick surf checks.

The KM Saranya was custom built in 1994 specifically for long distances by a surfer for surfing, game fishing and diving charters. The boat was completely refitted in 1999 and has had further major refits in February 2006 and February 2008 and also now has the full International Survey. She has all the latest navigational & safety equipment, satellite phone, fully equipped medical first aid kit and other necessities for your everyday comfort. She can also accommodate diving and game fishing charters in the Mentawai.

KM Saranya is proud to boast its guests have included the likes of Mick Fanning and Nat Young. She is also aajor contributor to Surf Aid’s efforts in the area.


Captain & Crew
The KM Saranya is proud to have Harold Steinhaun as their surf guide. Harold is in his late twenties and is an excellent surfer.  He has lived in Padang for several years, and is very well known and liked amongst the surfing community in the Mentawai. The rest of Saranya’s crew are Indonesian and have been with them for many years and will make your surfing trip one to remember. All of the Saranya crew have their Safety At Sea certification.

The Captain is Ronnie Bate'e an Indonesian local from Nias, he has worked in the Mentawai since 1996. He has been Captain of the charter boats Triton, Arimbi, Indo Jiwa, and he has worked on Saranya for 4 Years.

Ronnie has full International Passenger Charter Vessel certification. He is qualified in all fields including First Aid, Officer on Watch, and has his Master 5 in Commercial Charter Boat for Passenger's. Ronnie has done full training in SOLAS Chapter V regulation, Radar, Arpa, AIS….- all modern forms of Satellite navigation.

Chef Nasrul is an excellent chef and has worked on the boat for 2 years alongside Ronnie and mechanic Wilson.  Every charter compliments him on his cooking.

The Asian and European dishes served onboard Saranya include plenty of fresh seafood and vegetables. Three beers per day are included, along with soft drinks, bottled water and snacks. Additional beers, wines and some cocktails can be purchased on board at reasonable prices.
