Mexico Surf Adventures

The Surf trips consist of three zones:

Zone 1 Huatulco is located 20 minutes driven from the international airport and it is considered one of the largest tourist destinations of México similar to Cancun. Huatulco has nine beautiful bays perfect for diving, chilling out and you have to taste the delicious meals cooked by locals.

Huatulco has 4 to 5 surf spots this zone has wind protection and offers year-round good surfing conditions, best in the mornings, however many of the points hold their shape throughout the day.

In this zone there is a surf spot called Barra de la Cruz the most famous wave in the area (where the rip curl final contest has been held) right and point break with rides up to 150mtrs. This wave can barrel all the way, depending on the currents when it´s big.
This area provides a reliable option when the swell is small or wind blown in the zone two.

Zone two: Salina Cruz is a small city with 100,000 residents and with only 35 local surfers! There are a dozen of natural points and beach breaks perfect to surf.

It is located 2 hours driven from the Huatulco international airport. It´s main characteristic is that there are uncrowned spots to surf, most of the time overhead waves, clear waters and good atmosphere; where the sun and pelicans will be the only witness of your tricks.

The zone two has very strong n to ne winds from October to march caused by a high pressure gradient between the Gulf of Mexico and the north and pacific ocean. These winds blow in ranges of 30-45 knots almost every week and blow out the surf in the area, but from April to September the wind diminishes to less than 15 knots ideal conditions for the surf spots.

Oaxaca's waves have left, right, natural points, beach breaks, jetties, and sick barrels!! The farthest surf point in Salina Cruz is 40 minutes drive, but that it's not a problem, you will be not bored because of the beautiful scenery along the way.

Climate:
one of many advantages of the two areas is the climate: warm, semi-humid, with a year-round average temperature of 27°c winter´s temperature is never below 14°c. Whereas late spring´s and summer´s maximum temperatures increase to 36°c, this insures you will  spend your vacation relaxing enjoying the sunshine making the most of the warm weather.

The surf

Zone one: Barra de la Cruz

The best waves in the zone one, righthand point break with rides up to 150 meters. This wave can barrel all the way.

El Edén. : right hand point break, stars working only in special conditions, but when it does it turns into a perfect wave with a nice tubes section.

Zone two: Salina Cruz

Spot 1- Salinero: hallow righthander jetty. The wave is a barrel with up to 5 second stand up tube rides when on. The prevailing n winds are offshore here but sometimes turn hard ne and give the wave a dangerous cross chop, best on low tides, local home break.

Spot 2- Punta: righthander point break, this wave it´s very fun, brakes on sand bottom, low tide better. 180-200 meters long waves. SW-W winds best. 4x4 access only.

Spot 3- Soca Blanca: this is the famous point break in the area because it´s in the trilogy surf movie. Uncrowded righthand point break with rides up to 170 meters. Two super barrels sections, heavy with swells up 14 ft. Special for experienced surfers. 25 minutes driven from Salina Cruz. S-SW winds best, low to high tide better. 4x4 access only.

Spot 4- la Rojita: heavy righthand beautiful point brake. No room for mistakes or you are going to finish on the rocks at the first section. Super fat and sick barrel wave!! Best on low tide, start to work at 7ft. Uncrowded. This it´s one of my favorites waves the spot it´s so beautiful and waves are crazy. Better whit light winds from n or not wind. 4x4 access only.

Spot 5- El Ikools: the best beach break in the area. Works better with strong north winds (off shore). Zapotecs people zone (Oaxacan´s indians). Lefts and rights barrel similar to Puerto Escondido. 20 minutes driven from Salina Cruz, low tide better.

Spot 6- el Tecolote: this is largest wave in the area more than 300 meters wave (in perfect conditions), three barrel section low tide better super fun and fast wave i loved!! S-sw wind better bad in n wind. A friend to me said it´s like Jeffrey’s bay in Africa. Start to work at 6 ft swell.

Spot 7a- Las Bambas:

Bamba #1: a powerful, hollow righthander breaking on the inside of a short jetty. The wave sucks out and peels for 50 meters or so before self combusting. Low tides better. Works on n- w and sw winds, 4x4 access only

Spot 7b--Bamba #2: a longer, outside second jetty 3-4 seconds barrel after that gets mushy.

Spot 8- Atascadero: another righthand point break reef bottom super fun wave low tide better S-SW winds better. Uncrowded no locals here, 4x4 access only.

Spot 9- El Tata: righthand point break sand bottom no body surfs here! 1 hr driven to get there and 4x4 access only. Breaks with up 6ft swell. Super fun wave with low tide better. Just a few locals know about this point. S-SW wind better or light n wind.

Spot 10- El Faro: righthand point break sand bottom no body surfs here! Boat access only by car it´s hard to get there (1.5 hrs driven) we love this wave 250-300 meters wave. Breaks only with special conditions and 8-10ft swell, S-SW wind on low tide. Uncrowded.

Itinerary for the entire trip will depends of the wind conditions, but the plan it´s surf all the spots and have a city tour (that will be for bad conditions or no waves) night life tour (weekends only) and I able to take the people to Puerto Escondido for extra.
