- Bali Surf School is a surf school owned and run by surfers with over 30 years of surfing experience. Their surfing knowledge spans across the globe with surfing experience in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Europe and America. All this knowledge put together with a friendly, helpful and positive attitude assures you can be confident that Bali Surf School will make your surf adventures in Bali one to remember!
Surfing is a very soul-settling experience - something that is shared by both young and old surfers all over our world and they want you to feel that to. They want to share the excitement and exhilaration that surfers around the world experience everyday - you will be so stoked! Experience that awesome feeling as the ocean lifts you and carries you to the shore, there is absolutely nothing like it.
Their aim is to show you this in the safest and most professional way possible - with highly experienced and friendly staff. Their instructors will pick you up from your accommodation with boards tied to the roof and go cruising the beaches and check out the local spots to find the best surf according to your level of experience.
They have structured classes for all surfers starting from beginner’s classes to guided surf trips and coaching for experienced surfers. Group numbers are limited to assure that you get intimate surf coaching and achieve your surfing goals quicker. The beginners, kids and family classes are conducted from TBC beach, a local Balinese beach well-known for its rolling waves which are ideal for learning. The surf guiding trips will take you to all the best breaks in Bali - according to your surfing ability level and where's working best for the day!
Surf lesson inclusions:- Hotel pickup and return
- 2.5 hours of surfing lesson: 30-minute theory and 2 hours practical
- Soft surfboard or hard surfboard

- Accommodation
- Bali Surf School doesn't offer accommodation. However, their surf lesson packages include a free hotel pickup and return.

Beginner Lessons.
Bali Surf School provides an introduction to surfing with their beginner courses. You will cover the key basics of surfing and also focus on surf safety. The beginners course will guide you through the basics of board handling.
Class Duration And Structure:
- 30 minutes theory – This component explains the basics of surfing and is taught on the beach where the surf lesson will be conducted.
- 2 hours practical – Ocean surfing once the theory has been completed. Students will put in to practice the fundamentals explained to them from the theory component of the class.
Surf Topics Covered:- Identify the types of waves suitable for surfing.
- Identify surfing hazards.
- Equipment and clothing.
- Choose a safe surfing location.
- Identify suitable weather conditions for surfing.
- Choose a safe place to enter the water.
- Negotiate small waves using a variety of techniques.
- Paddling technique.
- Dismounting and falling off a surfboard safely.
- Demonstrate correct stance.
- Apply surf safety when selecting waves to catch.
- Catching and riding a wave.
Instructor-to-Student ratio – 2 Instructors for every 10 students.Surf Lesson Times: Morning: 9.00 - 11.30am Afternoon: 1.00 - 3.30pm.
They offer 1-, 2- or 3-day beginner courses. The class duration and structure are similar. Completing all 3 days will have your surfing skills ready for the next level – Intermediate Surf Lessons.
What They Supply: Pickup - Hotel pickup and return.
Soft Surfboard - Soft top boards are designed for beginners safety.
High Visibility Surf Vest - Help protects you from the sun and can be easily seen by our instructors.
Certificate Of Completion - Confirmation that you have completed the beginners surfing course.
If you don’t stand on your first lesson, they will give you another lesson for free! (subject to availabity)
Intermediate Lessons.
With the guidance of the surf instructor, students will be shown some of the more-advanced maneuvers.
Class Duration And Structure
- 30 minutes theory – This component quickly revisits the basics of the beginners class, but students will also be shown intermediate maneuvers. The lesson is taught on the beach where the surf lesson will be conducted.
- 2 hours practical – Ocean surfing once the theory has been completed. Students will put in practice the fundamentals explained to them from the theory component of the class.
What Surf Topics Are Covered- Angled take-offs and trimming.
- Forehand and backhand turns. The foundation of the cutback, one of the most important moves in surfing.
- Generation of speed.
- Correct board positioning.
- Surf rules & etiquette.
- Correct wave positioning – wave take-off zone.
- Catching and riding waves.
Instructor-to-Student ratio – 1 Instructor for every 5 studentsSurf Lesson Times: Morning: 9.00 - 11.30am Afternoon: 1.00 - 3.30pm.

If you want your surfing skills to improve at a faster pace, Bali Surf School’s private or semi private lessons are definitely for you. This is a freelance-type of class. You can discuss with your instructor your surfing level and what areas you would like to concentrate on. This will get your surfing levels to a higher standard a lot quicker.
Please note that:
The surf instructor will pick you up at your place of stay and then will take you to a break that will suit your level of surfing. This class is suited for beginners right up to advanced surfers.- Private Lessons require one surfer to complete this booking.
- Semi-Private Lessons requires a minimum of 2 surfers to complete this booking.

Kids Packages.
Would you like to have a bit of time away from the children, do some shopping or go for a nice breakfast? Kids under the age of 13 need a little more supervision - that’s why Bali Surf School limits the kids class to 4 children with 1 instructor. This way, the kids will get close attention in a safe environment. Children are amazing at learning how to surf. This lesson is similar to what is covered in the beginners' course.

Surf Safari/ Surf Guiding
Bali Surf School’s Safaris are an adventure! A surf guide will pick up at your hotel and drive you to various surf breaks around Bali. Depending on your surfing skill level and the wave conditions, the guide will take you to the most suitable waves. You can bring your own board or they can supply one for you.The Safaris are a great way to go and surf some awesome waves and also see the sights of Bali.Pickup time is normally at 7.00am but if you want to surf at a earlier time please let them know by giving a 48-hour notice. Also, if the surf is pumping you can negotiate with the guide and you may be able to surf longer.
Surf Safari Pickup Times: 7.00am - 12.00pm
Guide-to-Surfer ratio: 1 surf guide for a maximum of 5 surfers.Distant Surf Safaris:
