Ocean Heaven is a cozy and comfortable surf resort nestled in Ekas Bay in Lombok, Indonesia, right next to and owned by the infamous Heaven On The Planet resort. Surrounded by white sand beaches, coconut palms, tropical mountanous jungle and ocean that delivers top quality surf, it will let you forget about "real life" for the duration of your stay. You can enjoy sunset drinks, the rejuvenating spa, soaking in the pool and scoring endless waves. The full combination of the pure and tropical environment, smiling service, sports activities and pampering body treatments will send you home refreshed and your sense of harmony with the world will be rejuvenated.

The Resort

The retreat can be booked privately by groups or families for special occassions like weddings, parties or get-togethers. There is a restaurant, bar and other facilities and activities like yoga classes, Indonesian language courses, local craft training and the spa. In its 5 private chalets, the resort can accommodate up to 15 people, although 10 is recommended for the most comfortable stay. Because the owners are the same as Heaven on the Planet, guests can be accommodated there as well.

The Concept

The designers of Ocean Heaven started with a natural backdrop of coconut palms, white sand beach and surf. There are many birds, butterflies, geckos and even a population of native monkeys which visit from time to time. The infinity pool with its natural marble terrace overlooks this vista and all the chalets have views of the sea and surrounding hillsides. The harmony of nature, the sounds of the birds and the backdrop of the surf can’t be put into words… you need to visit to fully appreciate the serenity.

The retreat's 5 private chalets are nestled above the beach, with surrounding hillsides as a backdrop. They offer you sea views, plenty of space and furnished in a traditional Lombok style, while keeping you cool and letting you rest in shade.  Please note, this property is eco-friendly so electricity is turned off after midnight unless there are still guests using the bar area. It is not air conditioned but instead they make use of the cool ocean breezes.

The Hilltop Chalets provide a beautiful overview of the resort, the surroundings and Ekas Bay. Sunsets are breathtaking from the wide terrace. Set a little back from the restaurant, drinks and meal service is available from the room.

They also have two Beach and Pool Chalets - guests staying in these chalets prefer the close views of the beach and surf, with easy access to the pool and restaurant.

Surfing and other watersports

A quality surf break, Outside Ekas, is a good left-hander that breaks close to the entrance of the channel that can break for up to 200 meters on the right day and it is just at your doorstep, directly in front of the Sanctuary … you paddle out from Ocean Heaven Beach. Surfing is good all year, especially in the summer season (December to April) when winds are often calm.

And nearby “Inside Ekas” surf break can be reached by paddling over, or by using the free land shuttle or surf boat. You can even walk around the fringing reefs at low tide. This fun peaky wave, a left and right hander, works with a bigger swell, the left from mid to high tide and the right from mid to low tide, hollow and barrelling on inside section. Can get very good when the winds are light, maximum 8 foot.

These breaks are uncrowded most of the year, but to ensure that all guests get uncrowded time in the water, Heaven on the Planet and Ocean Heaven now offer the first night surfing under lights in Indonesia … solely for their guests in the early evening.

Kite surfing is excellent at the large reefs in the entrance to Ekas Bay and on the broad lagoons and fringing reefs nearby. The winds are best from April to September, as they get the same weather as the very popular kiting site at Lakey Peak in Sumbawa.

Yachting, skis and stand-up paddleboards are all available.

Restaurant & Bar

Their experienced and well-loved chef has created a menu with many local and international dishes, also catering for vegetarians and vegans. House specialties are fish, healthy fruit and vegetable salads, juices and homemade bread and dips. The fresh whole fish and the Tom Yum (giant prawn) soup are two of the favorites.

Bar service can be taken in the restaurant, on your terrace or even in the pool. The well-stocked bar has beer, wines, spirits and cocktails.

Heaven on the Planet

All facilities at nearby Heaven on the Planet can be used by the guests at Ocean Heaven. A complimentary shuttle service runs between the two hotels. The massage and spa centre offers traditional facials and Balinese full body massage with specialties such as warm stone massage to ease your aches and pains away. Spa menu has something for everyone and all products are sourced locally to complement the treatments and their commitment to provide you with the best possible wellness programmes. The aim is to offer a harmonizing antidote to any stress in your lifestyle.

Infinity Pool & Spa

The infinity pool (with poolside bar) has a beautiful white marble terrace which overlooks the beach, surf and restaurant.

The Sanctuary is untouched by modern pressures and is popular with couples wanting health and relaxation. The accommodation package includes 1 hour massages every second day.

Waterfall Volcano Tour

If you are feeling active, the waterfall tour on Mt. Rinjani Volcano is very popular. You stroll through a short mountain trail to have a refreshing dip under the waterfall surrounded by lush forest and jungle. Walks further into the forest in the Rinjani National Park are beautiful.
