- Accommodation

Karioi Lodge
Located in one of the world’s most legendary surf areas (as featured in the all time classic surf movie ‘Endless Summer’), surrounded by bush teaming with native birdlife and the odd chicken. Look out for the worms that glow in the dark. While there are challenging breaks here, the beach provides a great environment for people of all levels.
You will find it hard to believe that somewhere so amazing is so down-to-earth and undeveloped. The lodge has dorms and standard twins and doubles. There are also powered and non-powered campsites. If you want something a bit flasher, they have options for onsuite rooms right through to houses with ‘Sleeping Lady Lodges’ accommodation - all walking distance from the main base.Ruapuke Camp
is accessed by winding metal road. It is well off the beaten track and located directly on a rugged and stunningly beautiful West Coast surf beach (famous for its stunning sunsets). It is almost totally undeveloped and is so remote that they you usually only share the place with a few cows and sheep. There are options of cabin and camping accommodation.Te akau Camp
is accessed by boat from Raglan - surf and arts town. Stunning remote scenery dotted with remnants of the amazing early settler history. You will camp on the edge of the harbour and access any one of a number of remote breaks using the local transport (i.e. tractor or beach buggy). The accommodation is camping but they do have the luxury of access to one of the most remotely located pizza ovens that you will ever see.Opoutere camping or hostel
All of the other options are on the North Island’s ‘West Coast’. This is because this is where there is the most consistently good surf. New Zealand is long and narrow so you have the luxury of being able to go from the West Coast to the East Coast on a whim – in as little as two hours driving.
The ‘Coromandel’ area is well known for its white sand beaches but you might find much of it overly developed so if you overnight, they choose ‘Opoutere’ where the 5km of white sand beach remains undeveloped and stunning because of a forested reserve running the length of it. They have a camping option - right on the beach - and a hostel option on the estuary leading to the beach. - Activities
