- On a plateau, 50 metres above sea level, Vanira Lodge has an amazing 180° view over the lagoon. Surfers will appreciate waking and being able to assess the waves in each of the 3 Teahupoo surf spots from their bungalow.
On the leeward coast of the peninsular and facing the sunset, Teahupoo is a small village "off the beaten track" and at the end of the road that travels from Papeete right down to the opposite end of the island. The road becomes a walking track along the water's edge that takes you to the cliffs of Pari and the vast forest and coastal area. At the end of the road is another favourite spot - the black sand beach at the river mouth where children can go boogie-boarding.Teahupoo village is home to one of the most infamous waves in the world and has become important in international surf competitions - in particular the Billabong Pro, held every May, which brings together the top surfers in the world. They come from all corners of the earth to confront the legendary wave.Nestled into the mountain with natural boundaries, the 2 hectare park which holds Vanira Lodge offers enough space to ensure the tranquillity of each bungalow. There are many tropical fruit trees planted around the park, a small waterfall & pond which provides a home for goldfish & a playground for ducks, with plenty of room left over for a game of soccer or footy with the boys if you travel with a group of friends.The beauty of the view back over the mountains is equal to that over the water, and the sunsets are magnificent! - Accommodation
- Vanira Lodge has 4 bungalows, each with beautiful & expansive views over the sea & the park. Designed as a home away from home of 50 square metres, each bungalow can sleep 3 - 4 people & comprises:
- one bedroom with a double bed (in 2 of the bungalows this is the mezzanine),
- lounge with 2 single beds,
- kitchenette,
- bathroom & toilet,
- fan
- a roofed terrace.
Three of the bungalows are built in traditional style with pandanus roof & walls of stone, bamboo & wood. These all-natural "fare", or bungalows, are each a work of art. Rooms are cleaned every second day. - Activities

- There is a small swimming pool facing the sea and at a distance from the bungalows to preserve quietness.
- Shops and restaurants at a 15 minutes walk.
- Bikes: for shopping, riding to the beach and discovering peninsula’s beauties.
- Kayaks: at the marina, 300 m from the lodge, to venture the lagoon to sandbanks and coral reef.
- Vanira Lodge employs a professional masseuse. She comes with her massage table and massages you in your fare, facing the ocean. You can choose: Tahitian massage with warm monoi, Hawaian massage or massage with warm black river stones. Between 5,000 and 13,000 cfp for 30 to 60 min.
- Hiking - "Te Pari" (the name of the area after Teahupoo) has a 2 day walking track which takes you around to the east coast of the peninsular. The narrow track takes you along cliff-tops, along white sand beaches & through coconut groves.The track across the peninsular from Teahupoo, through valleys & up over the saddle before it descends to Tautira.
- Horseriding at the Rauvau Ranch (walks or lessons). These take place on the Taravao plateau (18 Km away)
- Diving - there are two diving centres located at Marina Taina, Punaauia
