Nomad Tropical Resort - Sumbawa

Tropical Beach Resort Sumbawa is perfectly set up for surfers to travel with their family or friends, surf breaks are within a 200m paddle from your room. Your partner can chill out by the pool while watching you surf the world class left hand break directly out the front. Occasionally there may be a couple of locals hanging out there but generally you could pretty much have it to yourself.

On the other side of the channel, there is a mellow right hand point perfect for longboarders, stand up paddle boarders or beginners. If you want to get out there an experience more of the waves in the area the surf guides will take you to Yoyo’s (approximately 10 min drive), Super Suck, Big Brother, Scar Reef, Little Bingin, Donuts and a couple of local secret spots.

Spend your days walking on endless miles of white sandy beaches, surfing within paddling distance of your room or simply relaxing by the pool or enjoying our other facilities which include a fully equipped gymnasium, massage, and beauty centre or a 9-hole golf course. Besides surfing you may also snorkel or charter a boat for deep sea fishing.

The restaurant produces fantastic local and international cuisine, kids menu is also available.

In front of the resort's Restaurant, they have Tropical Left, a long rip-able left hand point break with waves breaking lonely day after day. There is also a right-hand point on the other side of the channel. Fast at the takeoff and then breaks slowly into deep water channel. Perfect for beginners to sit wide on the shoulder.

If you get bored and lonely of surfing a perfect left, the surf guides will take you by 4x4 to Yoyos or other local waves like Super Suck, Big Brother, Scar Reef, Little Bingin, Donuts, and a few other secret spots... Yoyos picks up a lot of swell. It’s a fun right hander good for all levels. Super Suck needs a bit more swell than other waves to break. Very good, extremely long rides!!! Hati Hati on low tide. Scar reef  is a good left-hander. There is another smaller wave right next to it called little Bingin.

This part of Sumbawa gets good surf 12 months per year!!! The months from June to August get the biggest swells and are perfect for SuperSuck and Scar Reef blowing offshore winds all day long. The in between seasons of Sep-Nov and March-May can be the best for our front-yard Tropical left and right, with glassy conditions every morning and only light winds some afternoons. Although Christmas, January and February can also be insane!

Other Activities

Other activities are available for the non surfers or if you just want a break, there is a professional gym with instructor, golf course, beauty massage therapies, cooking classes, babysitters, full day boat trip excursions with fishing, spear fishing, and snorkelling gear, internet and loads of other activities to keep you busy.

Golf

A 9-hole golf course only 2 kms from the resort, in very good condition. Monkeys and other animals can be seen while playing. The Caddies are very helpful and will suggest Golfers which club to use for each hole. All equipment rental is included.

Surfboard Rental

If you don’t want the hassle of bringing along your surfboards, being overcharged at Check in counters, carrying them half way around the world, and still risking them being broken or even lost, they can offer you a good option. They have good boards you can rent from them. Just tell us what size you would like to ride.

Surf Courses

They also offer surf courses. Ask us in advance.

The Basic Package

This basic package is thought for the single surfer or group of friends just wanting to surf, eat, and sleep.

Family Villa Package

This package is designed for surfers that travel with their wife and two children and search for a bit more comfort and privacy. The accommodation is in a Beachfront 2 bedroom villa with private swimming pool and kitchen inside the resort complex.

Note - Children under 12 years old pay only 50%.

ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE dates:

All trips need to be 7 or 14 night packages (Sunday to Sunday).

Option A - Flight and Speedboat (included in package price)

The flight leaves from Bali at 12:00 noon. It's a 45 minute flight to Mataran Lombok. A representative from the resort will be waiting for you here and will drive you (1.5 hr) in a vehicle with AC to the port where the fast boat will take you (1.5 hr) to Sumbawa. This is not a regular public ferry. It's a private fast boat. The port in Sumbawa is only 10 minute drive to from the resort.

Going back home: On the way back you will leave Sumbawa at 15:00 and do the same trip in reverse and will arrive at Denpasar airport at 21:00.

ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE dates: When travelling to Tropical Beach Resort, you will require a night before and after in Bali to ensure you connection work. Your consultant will advice of this and will have recommened hotels close to the airport for you to choose from.

Just a quick email to let you know that the trip to Tropical resort Sumbawa was great. Having not been there for 25 years I expected big changes. I can tell you there is still nothing there. Super Sucks, Scar Reef, & Yo Yos are still raw & untouched. Tropicals Resort could not be faulted. The staff were fantastic and did everything to make your stay a memorable experience. The food was a real stand out. They have a 24 year old chef named Jai from Aus who has really addressed the hygiene aspect....I can happily say that is the first time in 13 trips to Indo that I did not get the slightest rumble. The surf was extremely testing.....you go on these trips and hope for swell....well we had too much. We were fortunate enough to have Dane Reynolds stay at Tropicals for 5 days and got to see him surf 12 foot Super Suck & Yo Yos. Thanks again for your great organization.
