In France & Spain the surfaris run from 1st of April till 10th of October.
Based in Biarritz, in the middle of the surf rich Basque coast, the campsite, only 1 minute from the beach, and only AU$80 per night, it’s the perfect location to hang out for some of the European summer.
With vans rolling North and South of Biarritz every day, you will get the chance to see many different places and surf loads of different spots. Depending on the length of your stay you can have the opportunity to surf Mundaka, Roca Puta, Zarautz, Hossegor, Zurriola (San Sebastian), St. Jean de Luz, Lafitenia, Biarritz, Anglet, CapBreton...just to name a few.
Your surf guides will find the best spot or coolest town, they will go to crankin' pointbreaks or mellow beginners beachies depending on the surf conditions and surf levels of the guests.
If you’re a beginner, at least five days a week they have 1.5 hours of surf lessons on the beach in front of the camp.
If the surf goes flat there's never a dull moment with cliff-jumping, cave swimming, skateboarding, bike riding, scenic tours into Bayonne or Biarritz, football, beach volleyball or just a game of cricket on the beach...
If you want the best of the action, time your visit around the surf festivals or mad European parties like the Fete de Bayonne or Running of the Bulls.
At the campsite there are nightly themes you can join in with…
Rafting Saturday:
The day of the White Water Rafting session - Boozing white wine on the twenty minutes bus journey from Biarritz and only for AU$50, including transport, lunch and more importantly, the white wine.
Mullet Sunday:
Admire the basque culture and hairstyles in the afternoon, have a mad fiesta at night, in the beautiful party town of San Sebastian... 2for1 drinks all night only AU$45 including transport.
Splendid Monday:
Sunset cocktails... Nothing better than a post surf sunset with a splendid cocktail in your hand. Cocktails are free - this one is on your surf guides! Magnifique!
Sexy Tuesday:
What's more sexy than guitars, fires and serenading on ‘ze beach’? Unlimited beer and sangria at the beach party for $18.
Wired Wednesday:
Lay back and enjoy surf films whilst nipping beers... See yourself surfing on the bigscreen and in photos, made by the surf-photographer...
Beserck Thursday:
Biarritz Pub crawl... Meet new people, have more drinks than you can handle, and a wobbly tour of Biarritz for only $18.
Finally Friday:
A surf contest by day, BBQ by night, and a whole lot of silly prizes... Hit the town after?
You can start your surfari on any day. The smashed shuttle vans do daily pick/ups from San Sebastian and Biarritz.
In Biarritz:
• They do daily pick-ups from the tourist office at 13.30pm. From the airport, buses leave for the centre of town, where the tourist office is, every 15 minutes. The drive will take about ten minutes.
• From the railway station/bus station, there are also regular buses that can drop you off at the tourist office. A taxi to the tourist office wouldn't cost you more than $18.
• For $25 per transfer we can pick you up at the airport/railway station.
In San Sebastian:
• They do daily pick-ups at the San Sebastian bus station at 11.45am, and in front of Marujo Surf Shop at 12.00.
• If you arrive later you can catch a train to Hendaye, with trains every half hour for about $5. When in Hendaye you hop on the train to Biarritz for about $10. The trip from San Sebastian to Biarritz takes about an hour. Alternatively, you can catch a bus directly from the San Sebastian bus station. |
