Magnific Rock Popoyo - Nicaragua

On the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, about an hour’s drive west of Rivas is the small indigenous community of Las Salinas. Las Salinas is home to Popoyo, arguably one of the best surf breaks in Nicaragua. Located on a small headland in Las Salinas, Magnific Rock overlooks both Popoyo and Playa Santana. This convenient position of Magnific Rock means it’s only a short walk to two of Nicaragua’s premier surf breaks .

Nicaragua boasts a unique characteristic that makes it a great surf trip destination: The southern Pacific side of Nicaragua (where Magnific Rock is located) receives almost year-round constant offshore winds that do not change during the day – as opposed to all other Pacific destinations. This wind, famous as Papagayo Wind, is praised by surfers for delivering clean surfing conditions. The reason for these conditions is large Lake Nicaragua covering the central part of the country – a flat area where wind is unobstructed and constantly blows towards the ocean, almost all year round.

Perched on top of the restaurant, the penthouse at Magnific Rock boasts one of the most stunning views you’ll ever see. The penthouse contains an ensutied queen room with spa and a twin room, with the option to sleep a family of six.

Apartments – Luxury apartments sleep up to five people in comfort. Be one the first people to check the surf at Popoyo with views of the break from your bed. Relax in a hammock on the balcony and watch one of the most stunning sunsets you’ll ever see.

Dorms/Cabins - why not stay in one of the 4-bed cabins for the cheaper side of things! Each cabin has its own toilet and shower.

Bar/Restaurant

Perched on the edge of a small headland, the bar and restaurant at Magnific Rock over looks both Playa Guasacate and Playa Santana. The open plan lay out of the restaurant creates spectacular ocean views which makes our guests feel like they are dinning on the water. The restaurant serves a combination of local and western cuisines made with local fresh produce. The combination of great food and Magnific views makes this restaurant one of the finest dining experiences in Nicaragua, if not the world.

Surfing

Perched on rocky outcrop with a perfect lefthander literally within stones throw and views south along the beach breaks towards Rancho Santana and North to the outer reef and the famed Popoyo reef and beach breaks.

With a choice of 7 different waves at the doorstep from beginer to expert, no other accommodation offers an equally central, exciting and fulfilling location.

Nicaragua has a tropical climate with two seasons. A wet season from May to January and a dry season from January to mid May, both seasons have very constant surf. The dry season is know for its offshore winds where as the wet season continually cops the massive swell from the pacific. Both seasons have their advantages with the exception of October when everything shuts down because of the weather.

Magnific rock also has a range of surfboards for rent so if you don't feel like paying extra to fly your surfboard down, they've got you covered.

Yoga

The Yoga Studio boasts a stunning view of the ocean, as it is located on the top floor of the main Retreat house. One is instantly connected with nature, radiating in 180-degree views of ocean surf and beautiful rock formations that will gently calm your soul.

Surf and Yoga – This tranquil location provides an opportunity to connect with yourself in a serene and peaceful setting as well as enjoy two of Nicaragua's premier surf breaks. The open plan layout of the yoga studio and accompanying restaurant makes our guests feel as if they are dining on the water. All the meals are prepared with fresh local produce.
