Boat Description

The Naga laut is probably the best value charter in the Mentawais this massive boat has rome to move. As well as the horsepower to get you to where you want to be.

Although the boat could sleep 14 surfers, it sails with 6.

Launched in late '99 Naga Laut has been continually upgraded by the owners and was originally designed exclusively for upmarket surf charters.

The skipper lives year-round in West Sumatra and has excellent local knowledge of swell and wind direction. Being a surfer himself, he works hard to find the best uncrowded spots. He motors while the surfers sleep in order to get you the most time in the water.

The crew will be up at dawn preparing your breakfast down below while you get out there on the dawn patrol. The food is plentiful and very tasty. There is a good variety of Western and Asian style dishes. There is always salad and fresh fruit. There is plenty of water, juice, and beer.

6 x Twin share individual cabins with air conditioning
2 x Single beds
The interior is beautifully finished in polished local timbers with a spacious living area it provides all the amenities of home - including full air conditioning, satellite phone, E-mail, TV, DVD, VCD, fridge, & freezer.

Inclusions:

• 10 days/11 nights onboard Naga Laut (unless otherwise specified)
• All transfers to/from Padang Airport to/from port.

Captain And Crew

Skipper - Captain Oyon
Oyon has long history of driving and working on boats in local waters and across Indonesia. Before joining Naga Laut, 1999, he captained Kuda Laut, one of the local inter island ferries.

Mechanic - Nasir
Both Oyon and Nasir have worked on boats together for the last 25 years. 'Bang Nas' is Padang born and bred and grew up alongside the beach closed to where Naga departs. Nasir is the least visible crew member as he will often be tinkering out of the sight in the engine room.

Surf Guide -Yanto
Yanto is one of the most experienced Surf Guide in the Mentawai Islands. In the 90's he was already there discovering surf spots with the pioneers of the Mentawai. He worked for Great Breaks International and SKM on different boats. Yanto does a great job as surf guide he really knows the conditions and is able to get you to the right places with crowds low. He got also a digital CANON with zoom 300 so i will spend part of his time getting photos of you.

Cook - Boy
At the end of 2003 we were fortunate to have Boy join the boat. He is an adaptable and dexterous cook and you can expect to be served meals ranging from fresh baked focaccia to roast chicken dinner to a full Chinese spread. He does a great job producing a variety of meals to suit varied tastes. After dinner however you will often find Boy and Nasir sitting on the back deck concentrating seriously in a fishing duel!!

Guest Manager - Anton
Anton is always on the spot to make sure the needs of our guests are looked after whilst they are onboard. Anton is really helpful, keep everything tidy.

Boatman, Deck - Hamzah
The ever smiling 'Da Am' is always on standby to drop you on the peak and ready to give you a ride back to Naga when you are done surfing.

Surf Breaks

4 Bobs - A great right hander for all level of surfer including mal riders

E Bay - This world class left hander is both powerful and fast and for experienced surfers only

Kandui - On a good day runs for upto 300m with plenty of barrel sections

HT's (Lances right) - Named Hollow Tree this world famous break is still the best right hander in the Mentawais. Though the tree is now gone.

Lances Left - On the other side to HT's this hollow left holds well up to 12ft but is still a great ride in 3 - 5ft

Icelands - This swell magnet around the corner from Aloita resort is a great fun wave in 4 - 6ft and walls up like a skate park.

Telescopes - A long perfect leftthatjust keeps on barrelling - you might remember this wave from the Young Guns movie.

Pitstops - This consistant, fun right will work in both NW and SW swell.

Maccas - Mechanical left hander that just keeps on going. One of the best performance waves on the planet.

Rifles - Can produce the barrel of a lifetime or a pounding you will not forget.

Banyaks, Telo island and Nias - You can access these areas however there is a fuel surcharge, please ask a consultant for more info.
