MV Saranya is a steel hulled, 17 metres offshore custom built surf charter, twin engine, long range surfing and pleasure vessel with a luxury open plan accommodation licensed for 8 live on board guest and / 10 day guests in air conditioned comfort.

The MV Saranya was custom built in 1994 specifically for long distances by a surfer for surfing, game fishing and diving charters. The boat was completely refitted in 1999 and a further major refits in February 2006 and December 2007/  January 2008with all the latest navigational, safety equipment, satellite phone,  fully equipped medical first aid kit and necessities for your everyday comfort. We accommodate surf charters to Nias, Telos and the North Sumatra area. We also accommodate Dive and game fishing charters in the Mentawais, North Sumatra.

MV Saranya is proud to boast, and its guests have included the likes of Mick Fanning and Nat Young. She is also a major contributor to Surf Aid’s efforts in the area.

The Asian and European dishes served onboard include plenty of fresh seafood and vegetables. Three beers per day are included, along with soft drinks, bottled water and snacks. Additional beers, wines and some cocktails can be purchased on board at reasonable prices. Other equipment includes a satellite phone, satellite-based internet and email access.

The MV Saranya is captained this year by Captain Rick Hallet who is a highly experienced respected Captain/ Surf Guide in Mentawais and has worked in the Mentawai islands for a number of years. Rick has his Masters 5 and Medical III tickets

Chef Kasta is an excellent chef and has worked on the boat for a number of years along side our First Mate Ronnie and our Mechanic Wilson.

4 Bobs - A great right hander for all level of surfer including mal riders

E Bay - This world class left hander is both powerful and fast and for experienced surfers only

Kandui - On a good day runs for upto 300m with plenty of barrel sections

HT's (Lances right) - Named Hollow Tree this world famous break is still the best right hander in the Mentawais. Though the tree is now gone.

Lances Left - On the other side to HT's this hollow left holds well up to 12ft but is still a great ride in 3 - 5ft

Icelands - This swell magnet around the corner from Aloita resort is a great fun wave in 4 - 6ft and walls up like a skate park.

Telescopes - A long perfect leftthatjust keeps on barrelling - you might remember this wave from the Young Guns movie.

Pitstops - This consistant, fun right will work in both NW and SW swell.

Maccas - Mechanical left hander that just keeps on going. One of the best performance waves on the planet.

Rifles - Can produce the barrel of a lifetime or a pounding you will not forget.

Banyaks, Telo island and Nias - You can access these areas however there is a fuel surcharge, please ask a consultant for more info.
